party extraordinaire

the venue and time: the philippine eagle center, from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. the hottest time of the day when the sun beats at its mightiest, recovering from the cold of the night. it is hotter still if spent outdoors.

the guests: 27 kids who are either over active (due to a drug-induced state of happiness) or passive (due, to treatment and chemo). bottomline, these kids have cancer. however, yesterday was exempted from the stuffy air of the hospital, from the warm linens of the bed and from the usual food from the cafeteria.

of course there are the wards too: aside from the parents/kuyas/ates/lolo of the kids, there are 16 other young people who came to be known as the "volunteers" that made sure that the party goess well. these kids are also sick, in the head that is, coming from different backgrounds, born in different parts of the country, studied in different schools, but somehow calls davao home.

these bunch of people come together so that a birthday wish of someone is fulfilled. at the end of the day, not only was the wish fulfilled, it also sparked hope anew for the kids that they can overcome their sickness. for their families to remain faithful and never give up on their kids.

and for the crazy people that came... believing that they cannot save the world but at least it can be fun and happy for a day.

sa mga naniniwala... salamat!
